What you should know about election contributions

Federal law requires that political campaigns report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer for donations above $200 per election cycle.

Individuals may donate up to $2,300. Couples may donate up to $4,600. You cannot donate for others.

Corporate donations are prohibited as well as those from federal government contractors, persons under 18 years of age, and those who are not citizens or lawful permanent residents.

Donations to political campaigns are not tax deductible.
