Larry Stafford

is the nominee of the Libertarian Party for the 2008 United States Senate election in Illinois. Larry is a working class Libertarian. Through his prior military service, current day job as a truck driver, and Libertarian activism, He has developed a deep understanding of the hard work it takes for Illinois citizens to be successful.

Community Activism

Larry Stafford has been active in the Rockford Area Libertarian Party since 1999. He served as Illinois Volunteer Coordinator for the 2000 presidential campaign of Libertarian candidate Harry Browne.

Military Service

Larry Stafford enlisted in the United States Army at age 18. He served three years on active duty as a Military Police Officer in Alabama, Germany, and Virginia. While on active duty, Larry achieved the rank of Sergeant E-5. He continued his service after active duty as an Army Reservist, during which time he graduated from Parachute Jump School and the Drill Instructor Academy.

Personal

Larry Stafford, 42, was born in Beloit, WI. His residence is in South Beloit, Winnebago County, Illinois. He is married to Patty Stafford. They have three children, three stepchildren, and four grandchildren. He has worked as a truck driver for 16 years.

Campaign

Larry Stafford was unanimously selected as the nominee of the Libertarian Party of Illinois at the party's January 2008 State Organizing Committee meeting. He looks forward to challenging incumbent U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and meeting people across the state of Illinois.
